 Briar Mill Tour - Phase Two

 

After cooking, the cut blocks are sorted by grade and size
and then begin a long slow period of drying in the cool
Tuscan air. This can be a period of years, though it
is now rare to purchase completely dry briar from a mill.
A pipemaker usually has to allow for substantial extra drying
time at his workshop, which is an added expense over years past.
