Briar Mill Tour
Briar Mill Tour - Phase Two The briar refuse seen in the previous photo is used
to stoke a fire which brings a large kettle to a boil.
The cut briar blocks - plateaux and otherwise - are placed
in this boiling water for several days, during which time the fire
must be maintained, so the water continues to boil.
This procedure literally boils out the sap and other impurities
which otherwise would sour the smoke of a pipe.
