Pure classic Gem Series pipes are rare. This is a factor of nature
far more than the pipemaker.
Most smokers are aware the grain in briar radiates from a central
part in the block and lends itself to freehand and Dublin style
shapes. Catching the grain, "just right" on a classic
shape, like the Emerald Billiard shown here is every bit as much
luck as skill.
That said, this Billiard is beautifully grained and moderate in
size - for a Ser Jacopo. And rare.
